Description

Rajashekhara Dasa
From the book “Chaurasi-kosa Vraja Mandala Parikrama”:
After Lord Krishna had killed King Kamsa, He dragged His dead body all the way from Ranga-shalla to the bank of the Yamuna near Vishrama Ghata where Kamsa’s body was cremated. As Kamsa’s body was so large and extremely heavy, as he was dragged along the ground, the earth was forcibly gouged out and it created a huge trench which became known as Kamsa-khara. Although the trench has long disappeared, the spot on the riverbank is still known as Kamsa-khara, or as Kamsa-khara Ghata.
