    Rajashekhara Dasa

From the book “Chaurasi-kosa Vraja Mandala Parikrama”:

This unique temple is known as the Kanch Mandira and it is a popular place with Indian pilgrims visiting Vrindavana. The word ‘kanch’ means ‘glass mirror’ and the walls of this temple are decorated with thousands of small mirrors. The temple was built by Maharaja Sawan Singh Juedeva, the king of Begawara in Madhya Pradesh. The Deities in this temple are Jugala-Kishore and there is also a Deity of baby Krishna lying in a jula (swinging cradle) at the front of the altar. In the courtyard of this temple is the Radha-nama Bank, where pilgrims are encouraged to write on a paper the holy names of Radha and Krishna as many times as possible. The paper or notebook is then deposited in the bank for the spiritual benefit of the writer. Writing the holy names of the Lord on paper or in books, is one of the methods undertaken by lay-persons who are not accustomed to chanting on beads.
