Description

Rajashekhara Dasa
From the book “Chaurasi-kosa Vraja Mandala Parikrama”:
Here are the Gaura-Nitai Deities worshiped by Shrila Jagannatha Dasa Babaji during his first sojourn in Vraja when he stayed at Surya-kunda. These Deities became known as Sona-Gauranga because They always shined brilliantly like gold. Due to Their golden hue, one day, some thieves made an abortive attempt to steal Them, believing that They were made of solid gold. After this incidence, Jagannatha Dasa Babaji brought the Sona-Gauranga Deities to Vrindavana for safety where they were given to a Bengali brahmana to worship.
