From the book “Chaurasi-kosa Vraja Mandala Parikrama”:
It is said that this is the actual place where Shrimati Radharani fell to the ground due to Her feelings of acute separation from Krishna and began rolled around in the dust. Understanding Radharani’s great distress due to His absence, Krishna immediately arrived at Lotana Kunja in order to pacify Radharani with soothing words. The ‘divine couple’ then wandered off and entering a nearby kunja, the ‘divine lovers’ embraced one another to Their hearts’ content. The word ‘lotana’ means ‘to roll on the ground’ and this kunja is located just behind the Radha Damodara Mandira. At the present time, although the lane leading to the kunja is still present, the kunja itself has disappeared due to urban development in the area.
