    Bhaktivedanta Narayana Gosvami

    From the book “Sri Vraja-maṇḍala-parikramā”:

This ghāṭa is located north of Cīra-ghāṭa. When Kiśora and Kiśorī performed Their pastimes here, bumble bees (bhramara) became intoxicated by the fragrance of Their bodies and started humming. This ghāṭa is therefore called Bhramara-ghāṭa.

    Rajashekhara Dasa

From the book “Chaurasi-kosa Vraja Mandala Parikrama”:

Although not so easily recognized, located just after Chira Ghata, is the celebrated Bhramara Ghata. The word ‘bhramara’ refers to a large variety of black bumblebee that is native to India. Once, Radha and Krishna were sitting together at this ghata when many black bumblebees suddenly became attracted by the sweet aroma emanating from the garland of forest flowers that Radharani was wearing. The intoxicated bumblebees began buzzing around the flower garland while making a tumultuous humming sound that was very pleasant for all to hear, thus the ghata became known as Bhramara Ghata – the ‘Bumblebee Ghata’.
