    Bhaktivedanta Narayana Gosvami

    From the book “Sri Vraja-maṇḍala-parikramā”:

Vanacarī is situated two miles north of Sonda and east of the Mathurā–Delhi highway. It too lies on the border of Vraja. There is a temple of Dāūjī here.

    Rajashekhara Dasa

From the book “Chaurasi-kosa Vraja Mandala Parikrama”:

In the Bhakti-ratnakara it is said that Krishna performed many wonderful pastimes at this place. Vanchari is one of the most northerly places in Vraja Mandala where Krishna performed transcendental pastimes. The word ‘vanchari’ can mean a ‘forest dweller’ or a person who spends a lot of his time in the forest. This name was given to Krishna by the gopis because He spends His whole day in the forest while herding the cows; even in the night Krishna could be found loitering in the forest groves of Vrindavana where He would be enjoying rasa-lila and other transcendental pastimes with the gopis of Vraja.
