    Rajashekhara Dasa

From the book “Chaurasi-kosa Vraja Mandala Parikrama”:

The Bhakti-ratnakara says that after meeting all the Vrajavasis at Kurukshetra on the occasion of the solar eclipse, Krishna promised to return again to Vrindavana to meet all His loving associates. Therefore, after killing Sishupala in the assembly of Maharaja Yudhistira’s rajasurya sacrifice, Krishna first went to Dwaraka and then to Datiya where He killed Sishupala’s close friend Dantavakra. Nanda Maharaja and the cowherd men met Krishna at Datiya and together they crossed the Yamuna and went to the place where Mother Yashoda and all the other residents of Vrindavana, including the gopis, were waiting to meet Him. When Krishna arrived, all the Vrajavasis came running to greet Him at this place while calling loudly, “Ayore! Ayore!”, meaning ‘welcome’. Thus this village became known as Ayore, but was later changed to Alipura during the repressive Mughal era. According to Shrila Jiva Goswami, after returning from Kurukshetra, Nanda Maharaja and the cowherd men did not return to Nandagrama, but instead established their residences on the eastern bank of the Yamuna at Goravai.
