    Rajashekhara Dasa

    From the book “Chaurasi-kosa Vraja Mandala Parikrama”:

    It is said that at this place on the bank of the Yamuna, Krishna stole the gopis minds after they heard the enchanting sound of His transcendental flute. Krishna’s flute is also known as a venu and thus the village became known as Venuya because it was here that Krishna enchanted the gopis with His venu or flute.
