Description

Rajashekhara Dasa
From the book “Chaurasi-kosa Vraja Mandala Parikrama”:
The Bhakti-ratnakara says that after crossing the Yamuna, Raghava Pandita, Shrinivasa Acharya and Narottama Dasa spent the night at Surukhuru before going on to Bhadravana. Raghava Pandita pointed out some far away villages located on the north-western bank of the Yamuna including: China Pahadi, Basua, Bhajna, Tilakgadhi, Marava and Venuya. (Because these places are quite some distance from Surukhuru, they have been mentioned earlier in an excursion from Kelanvana).
It is said in the Shrimad-Bhagavatam that when Nanda Maharaja was moving from Gokula to Vrindavana, all the cows were herded together at Surukhuru before crossing the Yamuna River to reach Shakatikara (Chhatikara). In another pastime that took place here, it is said that one day the cowherd boys complained they were all feeling hungry and wanted to drink some milk. Krishna then manifested many pots of milk which the cowherd boys eagerly drank. There was so much milk left over that the cowherd boys began converting it into cream and stored it in clay pots which they made themselves from the earth. After converting all the milk to cream, the cowherd boys then enjoyed eating all the cream.
