Description

Bhaktivedanta Narayana Gosvami
From the book “Sri Vraja-maṇḍala-parikramā”:
This place lies four miles south, and a little east, of Śeṣaśāī. When Baladeva came here from Dvārakāpurī, He asked the sakhās for good news, or khaira. This place is also a pasturing-ground for the cows.
Rajashekhara Dasa
From the book “Chaurasi-kosa Vraja Mandala Parikrama”:
The Bhakti-ratnakara says, “This is where Balarama enquired about the well-being of His friends, the cowherd boys.” When Lord Balarama came from Dwaraka He travelled to various places in Vraja to meet His cowherd boyfriends. The word ‘khaira’ means ‘news’ and because Balarama wanted to get ‘news’ or ‘information’ about His friends at this place, the village became known as Kharero.
