    Bhaktivedanta Narayana Gosvami

    From the book “Sri Vraja-maṇḍala-parikramā”:

This is the village of Dhaniṣṭhā Sakhī and lies near Umrāo. Dhaniṣṭhā Sakhī is a kṛṣṇa-pakṣīya sakhī, meaning she is in the group of sakhīs who have more affection for Kṛṣṇa than for Śrīmatī Rādhikā. Dhaniṣṭhā Sakhī is always busily engaged in various services in the home of Yaśodā. She especially performs the tasks of a messenger, arranging for Kṛṣṇa to meet with Rādhikā.

    Rajashekhara Dasa

From the book “Chaurasi-kosa Vraja Mandala Parikrama”:

This is the village of the gopi Dhanishtha who is mentioned as being one of Krishna’s personal maidservants and is engaged in service around Nanda Baba’s house in Nandagrama, as well as in the kitchen helping mother Yashoda. She would also escort Radha to Her secret meetings with Krishna at Gupta-kunda. The name of this village has been derived from the name of Dhanishtha and in the village one can see Dhanishtha-kunda.
