From the book “Chaurasi-kosa Vraja Mandala Parikrama”:
It is said that Lord Balarama killed a bhuta or ghost at this spot. Some say it was in fact a malevolent female spirit in the form of a yakshini. This evil spirit was killed because out of envy she was attempting to disturb the transcendental pastimes of Radha and Krishna. The small hamlet of Bhutpura is a very peaceful place and there is a very beautiful kunda here known as Bhuta-kunda.
