Description

Rajashekhara Dasa
From the book “Chaurasi-kosa Vraja Mandala Parikrama”:
It is said that Krishna performed the ‘rasa-lila’ at this place with sixteen thousand gopis. After dancing for the whole night, the gopis felt that Krishna must be feeling fatigued and brought Him to this place to rest. The gopis made a soft bed of fragrant forest flowers where Krishna could lie down and relax. The word ‘virara’ is derived from the word ‘vishrama’ or sometimes ‘virama’, which means ‘to rest’.
