Bhaktivedanta Narayana Gosvami
From the book “Sri Vraja-maṇḍala-parikramā”:
Ṛṇa Mochana and Pāpa Mochana-kuṇḍa were two kuṇḍas which used to lie south-east of Govardhana near Indradhvaja- vedī, nearby the present bus station. Today these kuṇḍas have disappeared. One kuṇḍa has been filled with dirt, and an electricity office has been built over it. Houses and shops have been built over the other kuṇḍa.
Rajashekhara Dasa
From the book “Chaurasi-kosa Vraja Mandala Parikrama”:
Rinmochan-kunda has recently been renovated by the ‘Braja Foundation’. It is said that anyone who bathes in these two kundas would be freed from the sins of killing a brahmana and even the sin of killing a cow. The word ‘mochan’ means to release, liberate or deliver’ one’s soul from all kinds of sins (rin). Lord Krishna manifested all the holy places of Bharata-varsha within Vraja Mandala and Rinmochan-kund is said to be the embodiment of the sacred Vishnupada at Gaya, where people traditionally perform the pinda-dhana, or shradha ceremonies for the benefit of their departed ancestors. The Bhakti-ratnakara says that one who bathes in Rinmochan-kunda also becomes free of all debts to the ancestors, demigods and sages. Papamochana-kunda is located a few hundred meters from Rimmochana-kunda on the road to Parasauli (Mohammadpur).
