Rajashekhara Dasa
From the book “Chaurasi-kosa Vraja Mandala Parikrama”:
When Akrura was taking Krishna and Balarama to Mathura on his chariot, he passed through this village. The gopis were following behind the chariot in a distraught condition, sobbing piteously and sometimes falling on the ground in a state of acute separation. Seeing the forlorn condition of the gopis, Krishna tried to pacify them by promising to return ‘the day after next’. The word ‘paraso’ means ‘the day after tomorrow’ and because Krishna made this promise here, thus the village achieved its name. The Bhakti-ratnakara says, “See here is Paraso-grama. As Krishna rode in the chariot to Mathura, He became disturbed seeing the condition of the gopis. In order to pacify them He said, ‘Tomorrow or the day after [parasu means the day after tomorrow] I will return and meet you.’ For this reason the town is called Paraso.”
