Description

Rajashekhara Dasa
From the book “Chaurasi-kosa Vraja Mandala Parikrama”:
Now the Vraja Mandala Parikrama is entering Govardhana Town for which the Vishnu Purana says is one of the adhivanas or sub-forests of Vraja. This kunda is located just before Manasi-ganga as one enters Govardhana Town and is to the right of the road that goes to Chakra Tirtha. Pancha Tirtha-kunda is said to contain the water from five (pancha) sacred rivers: Gomati, Narmada, Sarayu, Vetri and Kanchi. The palatial building in front of this kunda is known as the Bharatpur Raja’s Chatri and In most cases a chattri is an ornate memorial built over the site where the cremation of an important personage was performed, in this case one of the illustrious kings of Bharatpur.
