    Rajashekhara Dasa

From the book “Chaurasi-kosa Vraja Mandala Parikrama”:

This is where Krishna and the cowherd boys held a wrestling match. The challenge was that Krishna would have to single-handedly fight with all the boys together at the same time, and then He could genuinely claim the grand title of the ‘pelawan’, which means the ‘strongman’. Therefore, the cowherd boys began circling around Krishna looking for the opportunity to jump on top of Him. As they were hesitatingly circling around Krishna, one boy said to another boy. “Oh Brother, you go first”. Then that boy replied. “Nehi bhaiya, tum pehle jao, hum bada me ayenge”, which means, “No brother, you go first – I will go later”. Thus this village became known as ‘Pahelabada’ after the words ‘tum pehle jao, hum bada me ayenge’.
