From the book “Chaurasi-kosa Vraja Mandala Parikrama”:
At this place Krishna experienced great pleasure to see the cowherd boys singing and dancing to the rhythmic sounds of His flute playing. The word murali means ‘flute’ as well as being one of Krishna’s names meaning the ‘flute player’ and thus the village was named Murali. At the present time the village is known as Murar.
