Description

Bhaktivedanta Narayana Gosvami
From the book “Sri Vraja-maṇḍala-parikramā”:
Indradhvaja-vedī is east of Govardhana. Previously, Indra was worshipped here, but Śrī Kṛṣṇa changed this custom and Govardhana was worshipped here instead.
Rajashekhara Dasa
From the book “Chaurasi-kosa Vraja Mandala Parikrama”:
This is the spot where Krishna’s father Nanda Maharaja and the Vrajavasis used to worship Lord Indra, the king of heaven. When the Vrajavasis cancelled the annual ‘Indra-pu/a’ on the advice of Krishna, and instead performed Govardhana-puja, this caused Lord Indra to become very angry and in retribution he inundated the land of Vrindavana with torrents of rain.
