Rajashekhara Dasa
From the book “Chaurasi-kosa Vraja Mandala Parikrama”:
It is said that at Kayarika the gopis were playing a game of ‘kho’ till very late in the day. After the game had finished the gopis started walking home towards Varsana, but by the time they had gone just a short distance, it started to get very dark and the gopis became very afraid (bhaya). The village where they became afraid is known as Bhayari (Bharadi) and it is just over a mile south from Kayarika. Full of fear because of the dark, the gopis began calling out for Krishna to save them saying “Oh Krishna, it is very dark and we are afraid so please come and take us back to our homes in Varsana”. All of a sudden Krishna arrived there and it is said that He was able to illuminate the path ahead because as He smiled at the beautiful gopis the light emanating from His moon-like teeth shone as brightly as the full-moon. The gopis were therefore able to safely reach their houses.
