Description

Rajashekhara Dasa
From the book “Chaurasi-kosa Vraja Mandala Parikrama”:
Krishna and Balarama used to bring their cows to this kunda to obtain drinking water. As the cows drank the cool waters of the kunda Krishna and Balarama would rest under the shade of the trees while their cowherd boyfriends would massage their legs. It is said that both Rupa and Sanatana Goswamis had at sometime performed their bhajana on the banks of this kunda. Govinda-kunda is the largest of all the kundas found in Vrindavana. The extensive sandstone ghatas surrounding the kunda were built by Princess Chandharani Kali Sundari of Rajshahi (Now in Bangladesh). Unfortunately the kunda is mostly dry throughout the year accept during the monsoon when it fills with rainwater.
