Rajashekhara Dasa
From the book “Chaurasi-kosa Vraja Mandala Parikrama”:
There are two very nice gardens here known as Ramabhaga and Syamabhaga and also a large lake. It is said that the name ‘Ajhai’ is derived from the word ‘aja’ which means ‘today’. After Krishna had killed the serpent Aghasura, nobody knew because the cowherd boys had been stolen by Brahma and put to sleep for one year under the influence of Brahma’s mystic power. When the cowherd boys woke up they were not aware that one whole year had passed by, therefore they thought that Krishna had killed the Aghasura demon in the morning of that same day. Therefore on the way home, the cowherd boys started to tell all the Vrajavasis that Krishna killed the demon Aghasura ‘today’ (aja), although unbeknown to them, it happened one year earlier.
