Rajashekhara Dasa
From the book “Chaurasi-kosa Vraja Mandala Parikrama”:
One day, Krishna and His cowherd boyfriends were herding their cows at this place. All the cowherd boys gathered around Krishna and asked Him how it was possible that even as a baby, He could perform such heroic activities and kill so many powerful demons like Putana, Trinavarta, and Shakatasura. Krishna immediately began to smile at the enquiry made by His friends and told them that these were just ordinary activities for Him. He then told the cowherd boys that it was very difficult to understand how He could exhibit such power while still a baby, and that it was an aspect of His yogamaya mystic potency. The word ‘hasya’ or ‘hasya-rasa’ means to ‘smile’ or to ‘joke’ and because it was here at this place where Krishna was smiling at the enquiry of His friends, this village became known as Hasanapura.
According to some Vaishnava babajis performing the Vraja Mandala Borderline-Parikrama, just south of Hasanpur on the parikrama path is a village named Mahali (Maholi) that is well known in the area as the residence of many Krishna-bhaktas, who all have Vaishnava tilak and wear tulasi neckbeads. It is said that there is no distinction of caste or creed everyone in the village chants the holy names of the Lord.
