From the book “Chaurasi-kosa Vraja Mandala Parikrama”:
Local legend says that one of Radha’s dear girlfriends used to live in this village. One day this particular girlfriend began to feel intense pangs of separation from Radha and while crying piteously, began calling Radha’s name over and over again. In Varshana, Radha heard the piteous cries of Her girlfriend and leaving everything She immediately ran to this village to pacify Her friend. Thus the village where Radha’s friend lived became known as Radha Nagari, which means the village that was blessed by Radha.
