Description

Rajashekhara Dasa
From the book “Chaurasi-kosa Vraja Mandala Parikrama”:
According to legend, this is the place where the gopis waited for a long time for Krishna to return to engage in loving pastimes with them. The gopis sat near the pathway on which Krishna had left after He had assured them that He would soon return. The gopis waited for a very long time and kept looking down the pathway to see if Krishna was returning. The gopis kept telling each other that Krishna will soon come back and repeatedly looked towards the path in expectation of Krishna’s return. Therefore the village became known as ‘Patharali’, which means the ‘forest pathway’ where the gopis waited for Krishna to return.
