The Adi-Varaha Purana says that Suryadeva worshiped Lord Krishna at this ghata on the bank of the Yamuna. This is also the place where Bali Maharaja worshiped the sun-god Suryadeva when he came to Mathura to perform a yajna at nearby Bali-tila in order to obtain a benediction from the sun-god that he could conquer the heavenly kingdom of the demigods.
