    Bhaktivedanta Narayana Gosvami

    From the book “Sri Vraja-maṇḍala-parikramā”:

A resident of Lucknow, Seṭh Kundanalāla Śāha, constructed this grand, white marble-stone temple in 1835 AD at great expense. He was an unalloyed devotee of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu. This temple presently gives some idea of the incomparable grandeur of Vṛndāvana in previous times.

    Rajashekhara Dasa

From the book “Chaurasi-kosa Vraja Mandala Parikrama”:

This temple was built in 1863 by Shah Kundan Lal, a wealthy gold merchant and jeweler from Lucknow, who was the disciple of the Radharamana gosain. It was originally built for the Deity of Radharamana, but after completion, the gosains of Radharamana decided not to move the Deity to the new location. A small Deity of Radharamana was then installed in the temple known as Chota-Radharamana (little Radharamana). Shahji Mandira has become famous for its carved marble pillars and floral gardens containing many fountains and is also well-known for its gorgeous celebration of Vasant-panchami, the first day of spring, when the temple’s special Vasanta Room is open to the public. Devotees can get a rare glimpse of the many ornate chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. The Vasanta Room is painted entirely in yellow, the color of spring and on this occasion the Deities are also brought there for a special darshana. The ceiling and walls are covered with multicolored paintings and the throne (shringasana), the altar doors, and several mirrors, some as much as ten feet high, are all gold plated.
