Description

Bhaktivedanta Narayana Gosvami
From the book “Sri Vraja-maṇḍala-parikramā”:
Here, Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa and the sakhīs became so absorbed in their playful pastimes that they entirely forgot to eat, what to speak of to return home. Vṛndā-devī finally reminded them to go home. This place became known as Tiloyāra because here Kṛṣṇa and the gopīs were not even slightly conscious of the passing of time. Tilamātra means “very slightly” and is used in Hindi to denote a very slight measurement of time or space. Tiloyāra is also situated on the border of Vraja-maṇḍala. Muslims of the meva caste reside in the villages around here.
Rajashekhara Dasa
From the book “Chaurasi-kosa Vraja Mandala Parikrama”:
The Bhakti-ratnakara says, “In Tiloyara-grama Krishna would play without taking a moments rest.” At this place Krishna and the cowherd boys became so absorbed in playing games that they never cared to rest. Located at this place was a sweet-smelling grove of kadamba trees known as kadamba-khandi. This is where Radha and Krishna became so deeply absorbed in Their loving pastimes that not even a single moment was wasted. The word ‘tila’ means ‘a moment in time’ and because there was not even a moment’s interruption in Krishna’s ecstatic pastimes at this place, the village became known as Tiloyara.
